A Faith-Filled Fall Michigan Wedding
What a joy and honor it was to capture the wedding day of Colleen and Karl in beautiful White Lake, Michigan. Their celebration blended rustic country charm with a deep foundation of faith, making every moment meaningful and unforgettable. The couple hosted their wedding on their own property, which they had lovingly prepared for months, and it was the perfect setting for a day that reflected their fun personalities and devotion to Jesus.
From the very start of the day, worship music filled the air, setting a reverent yet anticipatory tone. As Colleen prepared for her wedding day, she knew exactly which songs she wanted sung over her; songs that had played an important part of her personal spiritual journey. Her daughters and daughters-in-law were her ladies in waiting, each and every one of them assisting in the preparation. Colleen and her son, Jack, shared a precious mother-son first look; when he saw her a smile erupted across his face.
One the ceremony began, the couple was blessed with two officiants leading the ceremony, both individuals who had held a significant role in the couple's faith and relationship. There was a beautiful emphasis on God’s covenant with us and the sacredness of marriage as a reflection of His love. Colleen and Karl's adult children stood proudly by their sides, offering tears, laughter, and cheers as Colleen and Karl made their vows. The grandchildren, serving as ring bearers and flower girls, brought smiles during the ceremony and later would be seen lighting up the dance floor with moves that had everyone laughing and cheering.
The day was full of surprises, including one especially memorable moment for Karl. To the delight of Colleen and his children, some of his beloved chickens made an appearance dressed in wedding attire. It was a playful, lighthearted detail that captured the couple’s joyful spirits and love for the little things that make life fun.
Hospitality was a thread woven throughout the entire day. You could tell that Colleen (and her party-planning twin sister) had carefully chosen every detail with incredible intentionality. Guests were treated to beautifully curated appetizer charcuterie boards and delicious food that reflected the couple’s care and thoughtfulness. Cozy blankets were provided for comfort as the evening cooled, while s’mores stations added warmth and nostalgia to the outdoor celebration. To top it all off, an ice cream truck rolled in after dinner, offering sweet treats that brought out the childlike joy in everyone. These details combined to create an atmosphere that was both elegant and welcoming, leaving guests feeling cared for and celebrated right alongside the couple.
Throughout the day, live music filled the air from talented musicians Fritts and Chips, adding just the right ambiance to the laughter, conversation, and dancing. Between the heartfelt vows, the worship-filled atmosphere, the surprise chickens, and the joy of family coming together, it was a day that spoke of God’s goodness and faithfulness from beginning to end.
It was such a privilege to document this day—not just in images, but in moments that told the story of Colleen and Karl’s love. May the Lord bless and keep them as they begin their journey as husband and wife, and may their marriage always reflect His love and covenant.
