A Spring Wedding at Dodge Park
On a lovely May afternoon, Megan and James made their way to Dodge Park for their first look. Spring had finally sprung in Michigan, with trees covered in their bright green displays of fresh leaves and others flowering in full splendor. James walked across the bridge, the appointed meeting spot, waiting to see his bride who he would very soon get to call his wife. Megan walked across the bridge, smiling nervously as she saw the back of her handsome groom. This was the moment they had been waiting for.
"James", she called out his name. James slowly turned, and the moment he saw Megan, his face burst with emotion. In awe of the beauty of his bride, tears quickly made an appearance.
The bridge was a perfect spot for their moment together and perfect for their sweet bride and groom portraits. The pathway wound and twisted around a pond that led to the bridge. And the rustic character of the bridge contrasted in a beautiful way with the softness of Megan's flowy dress and the crisp blooms in her bouquet. It was like something out of a dream. The bridal party joined them shortly at the bridge and the moment they did, laughter filled the air.
After capturing photos of friends, loved ones, and family, the happy group made their way to Freedom Hill Banquet and Event Center where the ceremony was to take place. White folding chairs lined the patio underneath a large oak tree and faced the serene gazebo where Megan and James would become husband and wife. Megan is a 5th grade school teacher, and not only were some of her students in attendance, but the officient had gathered hilarious relationship advice for Megan and James from Megan's 5th grade class that was shared (to much laugher) during the ceremony. After rings and vows were exchanged, the couple shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
As the reception began and the room was full of love and fun. Speeches shared stories of James' competitive nature playing euchre and the dances showed Megan's playfulness. She had confiscated a favorite hat and cowboy boots from James earlier in the week which she revealed to her now husband so he could wear them during the Mother/Son dance. What a prankster! It was clear from the entire day, that this couple was perfectly suited for each other- their sense of fun, their easy going nature, and their love for the friends and family around them made them a perfect match as they began this new chapter together as husband and wife.
